You are Invited to our annual summer outing at Canyon Lake All USAFA graduates, their families, and friends are cordially invited to our annual summer outing at Canyon Lake. All grads and guests are welcome—you don’t have to be a chapter or AOG member, so please pass copies of this flyer to other grads you know. WHEN: Saturday, June 14, 2008, 11:00 AM ‘til dusk (Come anytime. Stay as long as you like.) WHERE: Ft Sam Houston Recreation Area at Canyon Lake (Maps Below) We’re at Pavilion # 2. Phone: from the 210 area code: 830-226-5357 (no fee) outside the 210 area code: 1-888-882-9878 Good website: Click Here GPS Coordinates: 29.889613, -98.219311 Directions: I-35 at exit 191 (Farm road 306), continue 17 miles through Canyon City until you see the sign for Fort Sam Houston Recreation Area. Make a left onto Jacob Creek Park Rd, center is 1/2 mile down on the right. Entrance is well marked. FOOD: Hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, and all the fixings, soft drinks and beer will be provided. (Please let us know if you’d like to help cook, or help in any way.) You Can Bring: Dessert - Odd numbered classes. Any other dish (Chips, Salad, fruit, etc.) - Even numbered classes. FACILITIES: Picnic tables just off of the swimming area. Facilities are a bit limited, compared to the Air Force area – meaning port-a-potties, instead of rest rooms. We will erect a changing tent. :-) Small PX located on-site. You Can Bring: Lawn chairs (there really is a “lawn”); grilling utensils. ACTIVITIES: “Party Barge” pontoon boat reserved for our use. Rides all day! Also, two themed paddle boats will be ours to use for a couple of hours. Fishing boats and jet skis for rent by the hour or day (rent before 2 p.m.). Volleyball, horseshoes, hiking trail, playground, and protected swimming area. You Can Bring: Volleyballs (sand pits available); lawn games; swim floats. COST: Picnic/Food FREE for Alamo AOG Members & their spouses, FREE for kids… $5 for everyone else ENTRANCE FEE TO PARK: $5 per vehicle, for DoD ID card holders and dependents; $7 per vehicle for DoD ID card holders sponsoring up to 6 non DoD guests. (If you do NOT have a military ID card of some sort, please let Kay know ahead of time so she can arrange for a “sponsor” for you. If you arrive at the park unaware, the staff will still be able to call her to send someone to let you in.) It may be raining in San Antonio but beautiful at the lake. Come on out!
